Washing your Kidding pieces
Modal is one of those fabrics that genuinely makes life easier — and that includes laundry day. A gentle cycle at 30° is all it takes to keep your pieces fresh and soft. No need for hot washes here.
Modal is naturally hypoallergenic and has antibacterial properties built into the fabric itself, which means it resists odour and stays clean without the heat. Cranking up to 60° won't make it cleaner — it'll just put unnecessary strain on both the fabric and the planet.
The one thing modal doesn't love? The dryer. Heat causes the fibres to shrink, and we'd like these pieces to fit for as long as possible.
Lay them flat or hang them to dry and they'll come out just as soft as the day you got them — ready for whatever comes next.
Garment dyed
One kind of a nature
Part of what makes The Kidding pieces so special is that many of them are garment dyed. This means the fabric is dyed after the garment is made, giving each piece its own unique depth of colour and slightly individual tone. No two are exactly the same — and that's exactly the point.
Because of this process, colours can shift slightly after washing, and that's completely normal. To keep them looking their best, here's how to care for them:
- Wash separately, especially the first few times.
- Dark pieces can transfer colour — keep them away from light surfaces.
- When you can, hand wash inside out in cold water with a gentle liquid detergent.
- Dry in the shade — direct sunlight can fade the colour over time.
- Skip the stain remover if possible. If you really need it, test it on a hidden area first and never rub.
- Iron on a low temperature.
- No tumble drying.
